Magnesium citrate is a relatively easy-to-take and moderately priced form of magnesium that uncommonly leads to diarrhea, unlike the more common and inexpensive magnesium oxide. However, the citrate form only provides 16 mg Mg per capsule. Therefore, restoration of magnesium only occurs by taking at least one capsule twice a day for an extended period (usually months).
