The Vitamin Shoppe softgels have worked well in our experience. The only drawback is the somewhat odd dose of the 150 mg capsule, particularly if you’d like to economize with a lower dose. (The dose of CoQ10 that we find usually provides relief from statin drug-related muscle complaints in our patients is 100 mg/day. Only occasionally will someone need a higher dose. Unfortunately, Vitamin Shoppe does not carry a 100 mg gelcap.) The preparations listed above are the oil-based gelcaps that provide far superior absorption to powder forms. (If you go to the Vitamin Shoppe website, beware of the powder forms of CoQ10, listed as a “capsule.” You want the “gelcap.”).
