In-Depth Success Stories:
A 500+ point drop in score—without prescription drugs!
Based on numerous Member inquiries into the impressive
successes obtained using the Track Your Plaque approach for coronary
plaque control and reversal, we now inaugurate a new series of Special
Reports for program Members: In-Depth Success Stories. In these
Special Reports we go into further detail on how people who’ve obtained
substantial regression went about it.
However, there is a limitation. Like all Track Your Plaque
Success Stories, these reports are based on real people. We have had to
change the name and the details to preserve privacy. This has become
especially necessary in the age of HIPAA (Healthcare Information
Portability and Accountability Act), federal legislation that limits
everyone’s ability to discuss personal health information; discussing
personal health information about a person is unlawful. Nonetheless, we
have tried our best to present the issues as they apply to our program
without sacrificing any crucial information that might provide
meaningful information on how reversal of coronary plaque is achieved.
All laboratory and heart scan values are modified enough to prevent
association with a specific individual, as are any details such as
occupation.
We quickly learned that, unlike other testimonials on, say, weight loss,
people are very reluctant to reveal detailed information about their
heart health, even if no personal identifying information beyond heart
scan score and laboratory values are used. So, this format, while not
perfect, represents a necessary balance between information presented
for education yet not revealing anyone’s personal health information.
We hope that this assurance of privacy will cause even more Members to
come forward with their personal Track Your Plaque success stories.
We begin with the story that we briefly described in the Track Your
Plaque March, 2008 newsletter describing Roy’s situation:
Another Track Your Plaque Success Story: A 500+ point drop in
score—without prescription drugs!
Roy is a cancer survivor.
After a gut-wrenching several years of struggling with the disruption of
his life and health, followed by two years of chemotherapy treatments,
Roy tried to live as chemical-free as possible.
Roy also developed a commitment to disease prevention. So Roy had a
heart scan. His score: 1730. The very high score at age 60 put him well
above the 90th percentile. The score came as a complete surprise to Roy
and his wife, since he’d essentially led a flawlessly healthy lifestyle
since his cancer 15 years earlier. His list of nutritional supplements
included about 20 different nutrients, all of which he’d taken for
years.
Roy came to the Track Your Plaque program for answers. He also expressed
his firm commitment to following the program without resorting to the
use of any prescription drugs.
Despite his slender build and healthy lifestyle, our evaluation
uncovered six new causes of coronary disease. We showed Roy how to
correct each pattern with specific modifications in food choices, along
with changes in nutritional supplements, rather than the shotgun
approach he’d used previously. And, of course, without any prescription
drugs.
A second heart scan 14 months after the first: 1182, a drop of 548,
representing a reduction of 31.6%.
Of course, our first step was to identify all causes of coronary plaque.
Despite taking low doses of niacin and fish oil (that he’d taken prior
to Track Your Plaque), Roy’s initial laboratory evaluation revealed:
- Favorable LDL cholesterol, HDL, and triglycerides
- A moderately severe excess of small LDL particles (>60% of total LDL
particle number)
- A mild post-prandial (after-eating) abnormality
- Elevated lipoprotein(a)
- Moderate vitamin D deficiency
- High blood pressure with exercise (nearly 200 mmHg systolic at moderate
effort)
Roy had already been on a plant-based, nearly meat-free vegetarian diet,
which he maintained during his program. His body-mass index was 26,
slightly over minimum target of 25 or lower. Interestingly, Roy had lost
approximately 30 lbs over the prior two years through increased exercise
and reducing carbohydrates.
We advised Roy to add the following treatments
